I have been blogging for a minute now and I am an affiliate of most of the companies mentioned but have not made any money. I don’t know what I am doing wrong but would love some suggestions.

I don’t know if I have my readers trust. I think so. I see that they are clicking on the links but they aren’t actually buying it. Granted I only have like 3k visitors every month right now (I know it’s a numbers game more page views, the better the chance you’ll get one but I would think I would have something by now (2 months of continually promoting my blog posts) right?

My best affiliate programs have been with other bloggers’ products – especially when I was on their launch team and got a higher percentage rate. I only promote things that I would naturally mention and then I’ll link to it if there is an affiliate program. I don’t necessarily want people buying things just to buy them, but I agree that there are valuable and necessary items that we all need or could use to make life easier!

Really good points here. I have been focusing more on my blog over the past couple of months. I used to be VERY irregular at posting because of work but things changed. I am averaging a little under a thousand pageviews per month which is way better than before but not where I want to be. I’ve had google ads running from the get go. I signed up w/ShareASale a couple months ago and signed up w/Amazon a couple days ago. Sad to say but I have yet to make $ on either of these IAfter reading these, I see areas that I definitely need to work on. Difficult because I really don’t know if I’m heading in the right direction and can’t really afford to hire a mentor at this time. I know that change will not be overnight but still …

While I am enjoying all that I am learning and while reading and taking notes, I am also trying to envision how this all could come together and at this point in my training it appears that there would be a very long dry spell as far as generating an actual income. True I want to ADD to my existing income, which is not anywhere close to a five figure number but I have to get to an income that would not be constantly sliding. I am continuing on with this course but at this point feeling a little apprehensive.

I’m not new to blogging, but I’ve never been very serious until now, plus I just started a personal blog and need to do a LOT of work. I’ve never had any luck with affiliates, but I was often too afraid that the products weren’t a perfect match for my blog, so they sat in the sidebar and I rarely talked about them. Not a good way to go! Looking forward to getting serious about beneficial affiliates that are a great fit and pay decent commission. Thanks for the tips!

    Hi Ruth,

Can you guide me more on affiliate networks exactly how they will help generate traffic and the two links you suggested (CJ affiliate by conversant and share a sale) do they offer global services as I am from India and keen to start my blog.

I have been blogging for three months now and have had Google Adsense from the start. I didn’t want to “surprise” my reader’s with ads. I also use Amazon Affiliate, ShareASale, Flex Offers, as well as a few others. I’ve discovered, it truly is all about the page views. I only recently began making money from Adsense and Amazon once my page views picked up. I totally agree with only promoting items/services you have or would use to your readers. I am an awful salesperson and hate asking someone to purchase something simply so I can make a few dollars. Thanks again for your sage words of wisdom!

Ruth, I have been watching all your promo information about EliteBlog academy and I was so close to joining for this year but here’s the real scoop. I’ve decided I’m going to be the 1st person to sign up for EBA in 2018. I don’t have $797 – not even in 3 payments right now. I intend to have money saved so that I won’t have to think about the price tag next year. I’m 100% sure that your program will be so worth it and pay for itself. So why am I not “pulling the trigger”? The truth is I’m at square one. I’ve never blogged a day in my life. At this point, I have ideas but no definite direction for my (currently non-existent) blog. But because of the information you have shared… I KNOW I CAN DO IT! I am going to spend 2017 focusing on my health and my blog direction. I want to create a healthy share of that “killer content” you talk about and hit the course at full speed next year. I wish it was sooner than that but I tend to dive into things before I’m ready and get overwhelmed and give up. I’m giving myself license to take it slow, experiment with my direction and be ready for 2018. Thank you for what you have already shared, just with the information leading up to EBA. I’ll be ready….360 days from now. I am excited and looking forward to it!

I am such a newbie at this blogging and really trying to feel my way through the dark per se. However, baby steps and I am getting there. I had heard of becoming an affiliate with Stitch Fix which is one of my favorites as well Ruth, let’s face it, it’s like CHRISTMAS each time! 🙂 But, I am struggling with page views and now trying to take your advice and top refreshing my stats page every 5 minutes to find that I am not getting views. They have dropped, and seriously even thought I am NOT high like most of you, I’m at only 1 today when I have had MANY more. So, time to get serious and start learning a bit more. THANK YOU for this article, FINALLY after 5 months I have someone that is straight up explaining HOW TO MAKE MONEY! Thank you Ruth!

Thank you for this article. I’m just now seriously trying to do affiliate marketing after half-heartedly doing it with Amazon. Amazon covers pretty much every topic, but now I’m going to do some research on being an affiliate for something that more closely resonates with my audience.

Just recently signed up for Amazon’s affiliate program. Getting lots of clicks but nothing sold yet. I’m just happy to see people are clicking with the few page views I get. It’s a start!

    Ruth,
Thanks for all the informative information. The support that I have received from you has been awesome. I too, have fallen into the trap “O blogging is a good Ideal but it a nice thing to do with your time”. I plan to sign up for your EBA Class 2018. There will be no distractions or excuses not too. I am holding myself accountable. Many blessings.
